Decjuba Foundation, the charity behind Australian fashion retailer Decjuba, has extended its partnership with The Australian Ballet for another three years.
The partnership is through The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach program.
This follows Decjuba Foundation’s most recent support as the production partner for DanceX - a three-part festival of dance conceived by The Australian Ballet’s artistic director David Hallberg.
The Australian Ballet’s Education and Outreach program aims to make the arts industry more accessible to young people across the country.
This is through developing inclusive experiences in schools and communities, as well as educational and wellbeing opportunities, particularly for marginalised Australians.
“The impact of The Australian Ballet extends far beyond the stage, so we are thrilled to support The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach Program in a three-year commitment that will directly impact the younger Australian generation,” Decjuba CEO Tania Austin said.
The Australian Ballet estimates the total participation in the program between 2023 - 2025 will exceed 100,000 young people and improve the educational and wellbeing outcomes of over 270,000 marginalised Australians through community programs, performances, teacher training, and cadetships.
Executive director Libby Christie said through Decjuba’s support, the program will deliver a national, inclusive arts education program designed to increase access to dance for all Australians.
“Our reach goes far beyond the audiences who come to see our dancers perform on big stages in our major cities,” Christie said.
“Through the theme of dance, we engage with the broader community around the country with our education and touring footprint, ensuring we are offering immersive, creative, collaborative and inspiring experiences to all Australians regardless of age or physical location.”
Through long-term meaningful partnerships with charitable organisations, Decjuba Foundation will reportedly work towards positively impacting 25 million lives by 2025, focusing on five key areas: empowerment, experience, education, essentials and emergency relief.
The Australian Ballet is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. It is funded primarily through its own commercial, philanthropic and fundraising activities.
The NFP also receives funding from the Commonwealth, NSW and Victorian Governments, through the Australia Council for the Arts, as a Major Performing Arts Company.
