Daniel Bracken has passed away overnight.
Bracken was currently the CEO and managing director of Michael Hill International – the group behind Michael Hill, Bevilles, Medley and TenSevenSeven.
The company confirmed the news in a statement, saying his passing was a result of an adverse reaction to medical treatment for an underlying medical condition.
“The board, executive and all of the Michael Hill team express their deepest and sincerest condolences to his family and friends,” the statement read. “On behalf of the board, we thank Daniel for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the Michael Hill Group and our people over the past 7 years. He will be dearly missed.
“Daniel was a passionate retailer, an innovative and strategic thinker and an inspiring leader, who transformed the Michael Hill Group into the company that it is today.”
Further details of interim leadership arrangements will be provided by the board in due course.
Prior to Michael Hill, Bracken was the CEO and managing director of Specialty Fashion Group in 2018, and was the chief merchandise and customer officer and deputy CEO at Myer.
He also led Apparel Group (APG & Co) for three years from 2011 to 2014.
Bracken also held leading roles at Burberry.
