Melbourne-based fashion retailer Feathers Boutique has added two new David Jones concessions in Victoria, in both Highpoint and Chadstone.

The womenswear brand has also just opened its fifth standalone boutique in Melbourne at Kings Arcade in Armadale.

Feathers will stock its full range in the new store, with a select range online and in each David Jones concession.

Under the guidance of 82-year-old designer Margaret Porritt, Feathers has grown to five boutiques and six David Jones concession stores nationally.

Speaking on the new David Jones venture, Porritt said the department store has the right “energy” for her brand.

“It’s youthful, innovative and has a long-standing reputation,” she said. “This is exactly what Feathers needs and we can’t wait to find our new home here alongside so many fabulous labels.”

“After 50 years in the industry I believe change is imperative for progression and growth.

“We are so excited to work with David Jones and are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and to sharing the wonder of Feathers with women all over Australia.”

Feathers was founded in 1972 by Porritt, who continues to oversee the design process of every garment it produces.

Porritt developed her skills in designing at a young age alongside her milliner mother. After working in the UK for Norman Hartnell - the former dressmaker to the Queen - Porritt undertook a millinery apprenticeship with her mother before launching Feathers.
