In celebration of Earth Day today, David Jones has built on its partnership with fashion rental platform GlamCorner, through the launch of Reloop, a new circular fashion tool.
Reloop, which was developed by GlamCorner, allows customers to choose to shop consciously by participating in the circular economy.
Integrated at the David Jones checkout, Reloop gives customers the choice to opt-in to re-commerce their items at a later date through resale, rent, recycle or repair.
David Jones GM of womenswear, footwear and accessories Bridget Veals said the launch forms part of the retailer's 'Good Business Journey'.
"We are thrilled to announce the continuation of our partnership with re-commerce powerhouse GlamCorner to launch Reloop.
"We are committed to becoming a global leader in ethical, environmental, and climate-conscious practices, and as such champion ongoing partnerships with pioneers in this space.
"Through the Reloop initiative, we hope to educate our customers on renting, resale and donation options whilst providing a seamless solution to make climate-conscious shopping easy.
"This is another step to show our ongoing commitment to reduce fashion waste and support the transition to the circular economy of the future," she said.
Customers listing their items on the Reloop marketplace will experience a full concierge service from the platform, with Reloop managing the entire process in the re-commerce cycle including the collection and listing process once a customer is ready to re-sell nationwide.
The platform also allows customers to donate any clothing items which aren’t in resaleable condition via its partnership with global not-for-profit organisation ‘Dress for Success’.
GlamCorner COO and co-founder Audrey Khaing-Jones said Reloop was developed to celebrate GlamCorner's 10-year anniversary.
"After a decade in the industry, we saw an opportunity to make our circular fashion platform available to empower brands, retailers and individual consumers so that together we can accelerate the transition towards a more circular and sustainable future.
"We feel incredibly privileged to have the opportunity to launch our Reloop offering with David Jones as our inaugural partner and thank them for their leadership on what we see as the most important opportunity and challenge that faces our industry in the coming decade," she said.
David Jones' launch of Reloop furthers its partnership with GlamCorner, which began with the introduction of its own rental hub on both the GlamCorner website and in its Elizabeth St flagship store.
It also adds to the Blue Spinach deal the retailer struck with the luxury resale platform in October last year.
Reloop currently accepts clothing, accessories and handbags and is available to shop via the David Jones website now.
