The executive teams at David Jones and The Estée Lauder Companies joined over 400 guests at the National Breast Cancer Foundation gala dinner this week in Sydney.

Both companies are diamond partners of the NBCF, with David Jones being the longest-running partner of the fundraising organisation since its inception 30 years ago.

For the past three decades, NBCF has been at the forefront of funding breast cancer research. NBCF remains Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisation solely focused on funding breast cancer research, striving toward their future ambition of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Since their inception, NBCF has funded over 1,800 researchers at over 90 institutes across Australia resulting in life-changing outcomes.

Since 1994, the death rate from breast cancer in Australia has reduced by over 40 per cent, with research leading the charge.

Seasoned emcee’s Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur of The Morning Show hosted the event, which managed to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars through a raffle, a silent auction and a live auction.

According to the NBCF, the gala marked not only 30 years of life-changing research advancements but also the next chapter in its journey under the Pink Horizon Research Strategy. This five-year strategy aims to fast-track research that will make a future of Zero Deaths from breast cancer a reality.

Every day, nine people in Australia will die from breast cancer.

The evening was also attended by a mix of corporate partners, philanthropists, researchers and key opinion leaders including The Hon. Julie Bishop, Carla Zampatti CEO Alex Schuman, The Hon. Ros Kelly, Professor Helen Zorbas AO, Sally Obermeder, Nelune Pajapaske OAM, Thomas Hamel, Australian model Megan Gale, sporting legend Adam Goodes, Deeta Colvin, Rod McGeoch, David Jones CEO Scott Fyfe and The Estée Lauder Companies ANZ managing director Emmerentia Wilding, amongst others.

Internationally renowned researcher and epidemiologist, Professor Karen Canfell AC, also spoke, showcasing the impact of breast cancer research, the essential work of NBCF, and the critical necessity for rigorous research to drive progress and save lives.

A heartfelt testimony from Emma Radowicz, sharing her personal experience with breast cancer, underscored the urgent need for continued research funding.

All funds raised from the gala dinner continue to accelerate research efforts under the Pink Horizon Research Strategy — preventing breast cancer from developing, improving early detection, stopping the recurrence and progression of breast cancer, and fostering the development of new treatments.
