Cue Clothing Co. has appointed Melanie Remai as the company’s new CEO, effective within the new financial year.

Remai will take over the role from Simon Schofield, who has led both Cue and Veronika Maine brands since January 2024. Schofield is set to remain as CEO in the handover period.

Remai’s most recent role was the general manager of Trenery under Country Road Group.

Under her leadership, Trenery was successfully repositioned in September 2023 and pushed into a more premium level, reportedly achieving double-digit sales growth this financial year, according to a press release via Cue’s new owner HilCo Capital.

Cue was recently acquired by the UK-based investment firm earlier this month. That came amid a crumbling within the Cue family business, where founder Rod Levis allegedly fired his son, Justin Levis, from the business last year.

A court case launched by Justin Levis against Rod and his wife Lynette is currently underway.

Prior to Trenery, Remai brings 25 plus years of retail experience, previously leading and building brands such as Calvin Klein, Gap Inc, APG & Co (Sportcraft, Saba, Jag and Willow), Victoria's Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch.

“The Cue & Veronika Maine brands are synonymous with iconic Australian design and quality clothing,” Remai said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead such talented and dedicated people who have shaped this much-loved retailer.”
