The Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation (DAAFF) has announced the line-up of designers for the 2021 Country to Couture fashion showcase.
The 2021 showcase will again highlight First Nations textiles, contemporary art and high-end fashion design.
"Building on the growing textile design movement in remote Indigenous communities, Country to Couture is a vibrant, high-energy runway that captivates audiences with its display of diverse and deeply cultural collections from Indigenous designers and artists, as well as unique collaborations between Indigenous communities and well-known Australian labels," DAAFF said in a statement.
Designers featured on the 2021 Country to Couture runway will include:

- Dunjiba Fashions, from Ku Arts and Dunjiba community artists
- Kalumburu Strong Women’s Centre collaboration with Magpie Goose
- Krystal Hurst, Gillawarra Arts
- Ihraa Swim, by Nat Dann
- Jaru Girl Designs, by Bianca Long
- Jina-Jina, by Yinjaa-Barni Art
- Lady'JPau, by Jeanette Pau
- Marrawuddi Art Centre and Injalak Art Centre collaboration with North Home Textiles
- Moydra Designs
- Ngali, by Denni Francisco with prints adapted from the work of Lindsay Malay
- Numus Design
- Papulankutja Artists collaboration with Black Cat Couture
- Tiwi Design collaboration with Ossom
- Waringarri Aboriginal Arts
- Featured accessories from artists of Numbulwar Numburindi Arts and Keringke Arts
Country to Couture is staged by Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation as part of its Indigenous Fashion Projects (IFP), with the support of the Northern Territory Government via NT Major Events, and Australian lifestyle brand Country Road.
The sixth instalment of the Country to Couture event is set to return to Darwin on Larrakia country on August 04.
