Country Road has opened 14 stores across Australia and New Zealand that target a green star rating, with the latest opening at Bayside Shopping Centre today.
In August 2019, Country Road became the first Australian fashion retailer to open a 5 Star Green Star Design Review rated store, certified by the Green Building Council of Australia.
The opening of Country Road Frankston marks the brand's second store in two weeks to open and target a 5 Star Green Star rating, with Westfield Booragoon opening last week.
Both locations feature a number of store fixtures made from recycled materials, including kitchen bench tops made from defective Country Road mugs.
Recycled yogurt containers, paper, polyester, fish hooks and leftover yarn also feature in the stores as circular materials.
"A 5 Star Green Star rating is a significant achievement and represents Australian Excellence in design and construction," Green Building Council of Australia senior manager Jamie Wallis said.
Green Star is Australia’s only national and voluntary rating system for buildings, fit-outs and communities.
A Green Star certified rating is awarded as a third-party verification of a project’s sustainability.
Country Road Frankston will also see the launch of Kids World within Country Road stores, a new initiative featuring interactive activities for kids to play with while their parents shop.
