Lifestyle publication Cosmopolitan will return to the Australian market with a local dedicated print edition released in Spring.

It comes six years after the print edition was canned in the Australian market.

The return of Cosmopolitan Australia is led by publisher Katarina Kroslakova’s local publishing house KK Press in collaboration with Hearst Magazines International. Kroslakova is the publisher and editor-in-chief of T Australia: The New York Times Style Magazine.

“Cosmopolitan Australia’s vision is clear: to uplift, empower, and champion women while having an absolute blast doing it,” Kroslakova said. “We're dedicated to delivering thought-provoking, insightful journalism and entertainment that resonates with young women nationwide.”

Cosmopolitan Australia will debut with a range of content spanning style, beauty, technology, relationships, entertainment, and career and financial advice. The first issue will cover issues facing women today.

The return will also cover digital formats - including social media - with a plan of six print issues per year.

“While embracing digital and social media, print also offers a unique and complementary opportunity for longform storytelling, providing in-depth exploration, escapism and a tactile experience, which is particularly appealing to Gen Z and young millennial readers who are seeking a break from constant connectivity”, Kroslakova said.

Hearst Magazines International SVP of editorial and brand director Kim St. Clair Bodden said the relaunched of Cosmopolitan Australia marks a new chapter.

“We are delighted to partner with KK Press as we reconnect and engage with millions of authentic and bold young women in this important market.”

As Cosmopolitan Australia prepares for its highly anticipated relaunch, the editorial team is actively being assembled, with expressions of interest welcomed.

The Cosmopolitan magazine was launched in 1965 by Helen Gurley Brown in the United States. It has since expanded into an international publication.

“Helen was the original influencer, ahead of her time, who understood that young women yearned for more from life, advocating for their right to live unapologetically and own their choices, including the bold ones about sex and relationships,” Kroslakova said. “Cosmopolitan Australia will capture that same energy, speaking directly to every facet of a young woman’s life today - from embracing love to navigating career paths and personal identities.”

The return of Cosmopolitan to Australia follows the return of Elle Magazine this year.
