Australian fashion designer Collette Dinnigan has created a 35-piece childrenswear collection for Cotton On, with two limited-edition pieces for adults.
The entire collection was sketched in less than a week at Collette Dinnigan’s studio. The Cotton On Kids design team drew inspiration from Dinnigan’s original sketches, prints and fabrics.
Dinnigan said she was involved in the design process from the beginning to end, which also included a trip to Rajasthan in India, to follow the manufacturing process.
“Returning to India, where I used to work on my original ready-to-wear collections for Paris, made me feel alive again,” Dinnigan said. “It was like dancing through a work of colour and print that really touched my heart and has come through in the Cotton On Kids x Collette Dinnigan collaboration.”
The collection includes 18 boys and 17 girls garments for ages 2-10, across swimsuits, board shorts, rash vests, shorts, t-shirts, shirts, and two sequined dresses and cardigans.
The matching adults’ styles include a sundress featuring an exclusive Collette Dinnigan scarf print in sizes XXS-XL, and a men’s linen shirt in sizes S-L.
Cotton On Kids' head of product for girlswear, footwear and accessories, Alice Zelencich, said the collaboration is timed for a key retail period.
“At this time of year, our customer is looking for special pieces for end-of-season events – and we know this collection delivers for this.”
The range will be sold from October 28 across online and in-store in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Cotton On manages eight brands, 1,500 stores, with a team of 20,000 across 22 countries.
