Charles Parsons is making a move on the uniform supply and management sector via a new business partnership.
The fabric supplier has joined with Canadian company Logistik Unicorp to form Parsons Logistik. The new entity will specialise in 'total apparel management', or the manufacture, warehousing and ongoing distribution of uniforms to large entities such as the defence force or corporations.
Among the items Parsons Logistik will produce and distribute are clothing, footwear, hats and accessories such as belts and name tags.
Charles Parsons Group managing director Charles Parsons said the venture was both “exiting” and “strategic”.
“With the ongoing vertical integration of the local industry, we see this as a logical and progressive step for the Group,” Parsons said.
“...[T]hrough Parsons Logistik we can provide new value-added services to new markets, yet integrate with our traditional customers as key suppliers.”
Charles Parsons was keen to stress the new venture would not disrupt its existing fabric supply business, which currently services approximately 4000 companies across Australia and New Zealand.
Instead, the new Parsons Logistik venture will be an additional undertaking for the Charles Parsons Group and will be based out of its Sydney office.
Parsons Logistik will service both Australia and New Zealand and will bid for government and commercial tenders.
Logistik Unicorp was established in 1993 and has worked in total apparel management in Canada, the UK and Europe.
