Global fashion brand Champion has extended its partnership with the Hungry Jack’s National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia, as the official on-court apparel sponsor for another three years.
The partnership between Champion and NBL began in 2020. As part of the extension, Champion’s iconic ‘C’ logo will remain present on all NBL jerseys and on-court apparel until at least 2025.
In addition to being the league’s major apparel partner, Champion was the sponsor of the NBL’s inaugural ‘Pride Round’ in January 2023 which is expected to return early next year.
“We’re thrilled to announce the extension of our partnership with the NBL and major sponsorship of the Champion Pride Round,” Champion AU/NZ GM Sarah Flynn said. “As a global brand with a rich history of elevating the basketball experience for fans and players alike, the sport is in our DNA and we are extremely proud to pledge our ongoing support.
“We are also passionate about making basketball more inclusive and accessible for all, and look forward to continuing to work with the NBL to celebrate and advocate for the LGBTIQA+ community and its ongoing contributions to the sport both on and off the court.”
Amid the partnership extension, Champion will launch an Australian exclusive collection called ‘Clubhouse’ on July 12, which the company noted pays homage to the brand’s basketball heritage. It is a development on its ‘Collegiate’ collection launched earlier this year.
The fashion brand is also a major sponsor of the Queer Sporting Alliance, an ANZ-based LGBTQIA+ sporting club.
