Australian fashion house Carla Zampatti will open AFC Australian Fashion Week 2025 this year with a runway presentation on Monday, May 12.
The show will mark 60 years of the Carla Zampatti brand in a new collection honouring the house’s legacy since its inception in 1965 and its vision for the future.
“For six decades, the brand that Mum built has been at the forefront of Australian fashion,” Carla Zampatti CEO Alexander Schuman said.
“Her impact extended far beyond our brand – she mentored an entire generation of designers and helped shape the industry we know today.
“As a family business in its second generation, we are committed to preserving her legacy while continuing to evolve in the spirit of her pioneering vision.”
The milestone event is supported by a lineup of sponsors, including Lancôme, Original & Mineral, Edward Meller, Westpac, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, FAQ by FOREO, and Memobottle.
Carla Zampatti made its return to Australian Fashion Week last year after a four-year absence from the program, and was also then the opening show. The absence came amid the passing of Carla Zampatti herself in 2021.
The creative direction will be lead through the Carla Zampatti design team, and its design director Tanya Emon Beattie.
Emon Beattie has returned to work with Carla Zampatti mid-last year after working with Zampatti herself as her design understudy for many years in the early 2000s.
The brand was also memorialised at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney for an exhibition in late 2022.
AFC Australian Fashion Week will run from May 12 to 16 at Carriageworks in Redfern, Sydney. The event line-up is expected to be revealed shortly.
