Australian low-price retailer Big W has launched its own online marketplace called Big W Market.
Currently, the marketplace sells Christmas products alongside furniture and home decor, with plans to scale the offering ahead. The marketplace is a separate section on the Big W website.
The launch comes as Big W’s parent company Woolworths Group unveiled a new platform for its third-party sellers across the group's three online stores - MyDeal, Everyday Market from Woolworths and the newly launched Big W Market.
Called Woolworths MarketPlus, the new platform will connect thousands of third-party sellers to consumers across the group's key online businesses.
“It’s been a year since Woolworths Group acquired MyDeal and during this time we have been focused on harnessing our technology, experience and capability to power our Group-wide marketplace capabilities,” MyDeal founder and now MD for Woolworths MarketPlus Sean Senvirtne said.
“We're excited to launch Big W Market, leveraging our core proprietary platform and third-party sellers. We look forward to helping our customers access even more exciting household brands and local businesses, as we prepare to scale the Big W Market offering in the coming months.”
Shipping on Big W Market products will be free as part of the launch offer.
