Global performance brand ASICS has renewed its Wallabies Rugby World Cup jerseys, with its alternate jersey featuring First Nations artwork designed by Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist Dennis Golding.
Golding’s artwork is contrasted on a white jersey, with layers of circular symbols and patterns depicting the Wallabies and Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities merging together.
The alternate jersey is a separate uniform a sports team can wear instead of its home outfit or its away outfit during games.
Alongside the alternate jersey is the 2023 Wallabies Rugby World Cup jersey, which is made from recycled polyester in the Wallabies’ gold hue.
Additional elements on the jersey include an updated Coat of Arms in a raised metallic finish and a new CJ-Line design print across the chest, with First Nations design features on the inside of the collar and in the numbers on the players’ backs.
“We are thrilled to launch the new jersey for the Wallabies, and for fans and community to come together in union to support the team in the upcoming Rugby World Cup,” ASICS Oceania managing director Mark Brunton said.
“This is the third Rugby World Cup Jersey we have proudly designed with the Wallabies through our longstanding partnership with Rugby Australia, and we hope it can bring them great success when they take the field in September.”
The Wallabies start their campaign at the 2023 Rugby World Cup against Georgia on September 9.
The 2023 Wallabies Rugby World Cup jersey and supporter wear are now sold in-store, online and via selected stockists.
