After years in the Australian fashion industry, Mia Lavee is making a move to slow fashion.

The designer is set to launch a new womenswear label in September.

Lavee will debut with 16 pieces for the spring/summer season, framed around non-trend driven design.

Lavee said in a world where "fast fashion dominates", the brand emphasises fine fabrics and quality manufacturing.

“The designs seem to form of their own accord, especially when I travel to new places and get to experience and interpret the world around me from a fresh perspective.

"I feel as though there is a place in the market for them, so it’s time to let the designs out to speak for themselves.

"I’m really excited to be launching this brand which, I think reflects my love of winsome,
beautiful design and affinity for really delicious colour combinations.”

Key pieces range from flowing maxi dresses to a geometric shift using fabrics including silk-cotton voile, rich silk faille, geometric lace, crisp wool-silk and hints of metallic and leather.

The debut collection was designed during Lavee's time in South America and reflects the colours and textures of the market.

The palette includes rusty coral, primrose yellow, sunset blue and deep bronze as well as an originally designed print.

Prices will begin at $250 and range to $1,500 for the elaborate evening gowns.
