New Australian fashion label Alonza has launched its maiden collection online.

Alonza was a creative venture born out of the pandemic, founded by four brothers drawing inspiration from their Italian heritage.

Alonza creative director James Zappia said it was rewarding to see the brand launch after starting from scratch.

“During the pandemic we realised how much we missed our annual family trip to Italy. Sharing stories with family in a bustling piazza and indulging in Dolce vita. So, we decided to create a collection from that essence," he said.

"Australia is famous for its alfresco dining, and we wanted a clothing line to match that lifestyle - from the piazza to the veranda.

“Alonza translated means ready for battle, whether that’s heading back to the office, racing out the door to meet friends for drinks or walking your puppy on the promenade, Alonza prepares you to slay your battles in style.”

The collection ranges from linen staples to sweaters and premium jackets, with price points startingat $110 for a unisex cotton shirt to $300 for a unisex wool sweater.

“We are appealing to Australians who love to travel and are looking for something between streetwear and leisurewear. Our mission is to create garments that embody the style of Italy without having to leave the country,” Zappia said.

Sustainability is at the core of its business, said design director Stephanie McCauley.

“Having worked in design for over a decade, creating a sustainable and stylish collection we can be proud of is a no-brainer for us. Our pieces are also gender agnostic and trans seasonal to enable people of all backgrounds to enjoy our creations all year round.

"As young entrepreneurs we understand the impacts of fast fashion, that’s why we are creating durable and timeless pieces for every person, as we believe true style transcends gender.”
