Aje has axed approximately 20 head office roles as part of a strategic review.
In a statement to Ragtrader, Aje co-founder and group CEO Adrian Norris confirmed the company undertook an extensive and detailed review of the entire business.
"[This is] to ensure we are working in the most effective and efficient way, particularly in this current trading environment," Norris said.
"This thorough review found opportunities for us to streamline and simplify many parts of our business and to reduce the duplication of roles that will ensure we are operating in the most efficient way moving forward.
"As a result of this, we have made the difficult decision to reduce roles at head office and remove a number of positions no longer deemed vital within our business.
"We know this is a challenging and difficult time for the team members affected by this decision and we have offered transition support to them, as well as supporting the broader Aje Head Office and store teams.
"We sincerely thank those who have left Aje for the contribution they have made to the business."
It comes a year after Aje undertook a major company restructure, reforming itself as The Aje Collective, housing luxury label Aje, activewear brand Aje Athletica and its skincare brand Ikkari. Norris shifted to CEO while his co-founder Edwina Forest stepped into a creative director role.
The restructure also led to the appointment of three new CEOs to take on the three brands, including Beth Glancey as CEO of Aje, Nadia Lotter as CEO of Aje Athletica, and Stephanie Leathers as CEO of Ikkari.
The Aje Collective operates retail stores across Australia and New Zealand, with e-commerce websites dedicated to Australia, New Zealand, US and rest of world, servicing 221 countries abroad across +30 international retailers.
