Valleygirl e-commerce shuts in cloud of doubt

Comments Comments

Fashion retailer Valleygirl has abruptly closed the doors on its online store, citing “overall business” concerns as the reason for the closure on its website.

Valleygirl representatives refused to comment on the chain store’s online shopping portal failure, stating that it wouldn’t “look favourably” for the company. However the brand’s Facebook page did include a short comment, stating the termination: “was a very difficult and sad business decision that had to be made.”

Customers have voiced their concerns over the closure, which has locked out many loyal rural shoppers. The recent termination occurred in line with the chain’s efforts to rejuvinate the brand, with many of its major stores undergoing refurbishments.

Meanwhile, customer questions on the closure remain unanswered with a short note on the brand’s website stating: “Thank you for your overwhelming response regarding the closure of our online store. Sometimes decisions need to be made from the perspective of the overall business, these decisions are never easy and we understand how some customers are affected but we hope that you will understand and continue lovin’ our brand as much as we do!”

A subsidary of Fast Future Brands along with likeminded chain store Temt, Valleygirl opened its first store in Penrith in 1996 and has since become a key player in affordable young women’s fashion.
