Stepping up
Fashion footwear and accessory retailer Zu has appointed David Gibbs to the role of general manager.
Gibbs brings to the role extensive experience in retail management, having held several senior positions with UK retailers Tesco, River Island, Woolworths and Next Generation.
"I look forward to building on the brand's integrity and continuing to surprise the local market with leading brands from overseas by heightening Zu's fashion offer in both accessories and footwear," he said.
:Chairman appointed
Cotton Australia has elected Bernie George as its new chairman. George, general manager of Auscott's Narrabri operation, replaces Geoff Hewitt.
"A strong focus will be to ensure the government honours funds committed under the National Water Initiative and that practical worthwhile cotton prjects are eligible under funding arrangements," said George.
"We must also consolidate the industry's Best Management Practices Program and extend it along the value chain right through to consumers to secure Australia's cotton market into the future."
:Director retires
Duncan Shaw has retired from the board of G Retail. Shaw, who had been a director of the company since its listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in late 2001, decided to step down from his position in light of other professional commitments.

:Lewis joins AWTA
John Lewis has been appointed division manager of AWTA Textile Testing. Lewis replaces Bob Doyle who left the company on August 12.

Melbourne-based corporate uniform manufacturer Coronet - Fashion at Work has expanded into a new purpose built warehouse.
