NATIONAL: Target has revealed the best-selling items in its current Stella McCartney for Target range.

The national department store disclosed apparel pieces had proven the most popular with customers, despite the collaborative range also incorporating accessories for the first time.

The five most popular items during the collection's first week on sale were the black tapered tailored trouser ($99); the ivory rouched panel top ($119); the black stand-up collar jacket ($179); the off-white tulip shaped trench ($249) and the ivory lace tee ($129).

Of the 102 Target stores carrying the Stella McCartney product, Melbourne City (VIC), Bondi (NSW), Chadstone (VIC), Chatswood (NSW) and Eastgardens (NSW) had experienced the highest demand.

Target managing director Launa Inman revealed almost 20 per cent of the Stella McCartney for Target product had sold out on its first day in stores on October 29. She said she was “extremely pleased” with the customer reaction.

It is the second time Target Australia and Stella McCartney have collaborated on a collection together, with the British designer first collaborating on a Target range in 2007. McCartney described her second collection for the discount department store as “much more luxurious” than the previous one.

“We addressed daywear specifically with the last collection and with this one we focused much more on cocktail styles that can also adapt to daywear,” McCartney said.

The 2010 Stella McCartney for Target collection incorporates 42 pieces ranging in price from $20 to $299. Product includes suit separates, dresses, tops, trousers and denim, as well as totes, clutches, bangles, belts and hats.

The Stella McCartney for Target range is part of the retailer's ongoing Designers for Target program.
