NATIONAL: Small businesses in the textiles, clothing and footwear sectors can now apply for a new round of funding from the federal government.
Applications for round six of the TCF Small Business Program are now open until February 25, 2011.
Businesses able to prove their innovative ideas and growth plans may receive up to $50,000 from the Labor government.
Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr reported that up to $2.5 million is on offer as part of the $401 million scheme.
“This program offers support for switched-on small businesses,” he said. “It provides them with the opportunity to boost their competitiveness and productivity.”
Projects such as mentoring, marketing and branding, supply chains, e-commerce and export opportunity development are among the initiatives eligible for funding. Australian fashion designers may also apply for grants if they manufacture in Australia.
Recipients in round five of the scheme included Josh Goot, with a grant of $43,128, Kirrily Johnston with $50,000, Friedrich Gray with $50,000 and Alice McCall with $50,000.
AusIndustry workshops are being held in February 2011 to provide grant application assistance.
