Alexandra Yadi started the Bali-based label, Milk & Roses in 2008, previously working as a production agent in Bali from 2001. Her first son, Louka, remains the initial inspiration for the label, which began as childrenswear only. Milk & Roses has since evolved to incorporate womenswear crafted from a variety of materials including old French lace, printed flowers, cottons, silk, chiffon and satin silk. The collection is now available in Australia, with average RRP for product around $80.

Former Brazilian model Luiza Chang has created a collection, which will be available in October, which draws inspiration from her travels across the globe. Often working with pastel colours and retro prints, Chang also finds inspiration for Lulu Yasmine in bohemian style prints from India and uses organic fabrics in all pieces as well as intricate beading. Average RRP for Lulu Yasmine products is about $190.

Word Of Mouth, which will drop into Australian stores next month, was born with the aim of applying principles of architecture to fashion. The latest ‘Evergreen’ collection features a wide range of fabrics, such as silk crepe, silk chiffon, rayon jersey, nylon lycra and cotton lycra. Shades of lemon green, pale blue and grey, black and white dominate the collection, with price points based around the $80 mark.

Tropical flavour
Bali-based label Uma & Leopold was founded in 2005 and will hit Australian shores in October. The brand, designed by  Brazilian born designer Lara Barga, combines beading and handmade pieces by gifted artisans with flowing silk designs. Barga’s latest collection, ‘Lust for Love’ boasts a summer palette of whites, guava’s and corals contrasted with strong colours such as cobalt blue and black. Average RRP for Uma & Leopold sits around $185.

Footwear brand Pastry Shoes has launched in Australia, following a debut at the Australian Shoe Fair in August. The label was created in 2007 by Vanessa and Angela Simmons, daughters of Reverend Run AKA Rev Run from Run DMC, as a collection of edgy fashion sneakers in pop colours. The range features a mix of ‘Hi Tops’ and low cut sneakers in black, white, and metallic shades, embellished with studs, zips, chains and zipped panels. Key colours also include grey, pale pink, pale blue, mint, lemon, purple and bright multi-colour combos. Price points range from $60 to $100.
