Emerging local fashion label Catherine Leon
has released a contemporary new collection filled with soft silhouettes
and luxe clean lines in a colour palette of pastels, mixed with darker
tones and creative prints. The ‘Road to Reveries’ line also includes
several pieces featuring embellishments of sequin, with cotton,
spandex, rayon and nylon making up the key materials. In 2011 Leon also
won the Debut Apparel Award presented at Fashion Exposed. Product
retails from $160 up to approximately $400.

Western Australian womenswear
label Morrison joins Premiere presenting its summer ‘Retrospect’ range
of feminine pieces which aim to embody classic simplicity, elegance and
style. The ‘Retrospect’ collection features a wide variety for fabrics,
from Italian jerseys, linens from Belgium and Turkey to a mix of
Japanese textiles. Silk is also an integral aspect of the range, with
all materials coupled with prints exclusive to the brand and selected to
add a richness and depth to the collection. The brand, created by
husband and wife team Richard Poulson and Kylie Radford, currently
operates eight stand-alone stores and boasts 150 wholesale clients, with
all garments produced and designed in Australia. Product price points
range from $79 to approximately $799.00.

Quality over quantity
Australian menswear brand Utlity describes its product as “a mix of quality fabrics and modern fits with a nod to old-school construction”. Collections feature a range of men’s tailoring, shirts, jeans, chinos and knitwear crafted from fabrics such as pure cotton, Japanese cotton, Italian and Japanese pure wool, lamb napa, and wool/cashmere blends. The brand is also experimenting with using yarn from Peru, an Alpaca silk blend, for sweaters. Production is Sydney-based, with each range inspired by the relaxed Australian lifestyle of city living, the beach, lush countryside and tropical climates. Product retails from around $329.95 for pieces such as a pure cotton sweater, up to approximately $1099.95 for a tailored Italian wool peaked lapel jacket.

Japan-based label Moyuru International offers a line of casual clothing, based on simple, dynamic cuts and neutral shades. Inspiration for the brand’s latest designs has been drawn from the concepts of earth, wind, and freedom. Price points are in the “high-end” range.
Victor Alexandre
Victorian class
Established 30 years ago, Victoria-based label Victor Alexandre currently produces womenswear, menswear and a jewellery range.
The Victor Alexandre winter 2013 range for womenswear features a selection of silk peach drape garments, wool felt jackets, fur trim coats, silk velvet jackets and art tailored blazers and pants. Price points range from $109 for basic skirts and pants, up to $749 for pieces such as the ‘steele mink jacket’.
The latest collections from Victor Alexandre Man feature a mix of silk shirts, linen blend waistcoats and blazers and ‘new twist’ polo tab tops. The winter 2013 line in particular, also includes hero pieces such as wool felt check and velour blazers, relaxed denim chino’s and the signature handsome long sleeve shirt. T-shirts from the Victor Alexandre Man collection retail from approximately $79, with shirts ranging from $169 to $239 for silk shirts, and up to $329 for buttoned blazers.
Jewellery from Victor Alexandre follows the concept of creating one-off pieces, using real incorporated beads from all parts of the world. The theme for winter 2013 range is future and space.
The brand also introduced a new line – John-Duke (JD) – to its stable this year., featuring a range of retro and surf wear inspired pieces. Product is crafted from quailty materials such as wallpaper jaquard fabrics and includes cotton prints. All JD garments are hand-cut, Melbourne made and individually pre-washed.

Hailing from Belguim, the Sarah Pacicini collection presents an international offering with innovative and distinctive style. All collections are made in Italy and feature a unique blend between knit, fabric, colour and accessories. Products from Sarah Pacini reflect an ultra-feminine aesthetic, with pieces which can be worn alone or combined with other styles, offering a complete silhouette.
