Dion Lee, Josh Goot, Romance Was Born, Ellery and Gail Sorronda are among designer labels to sign on for a new commission-based etail site spearheaded by a former Josh Goot executive.

Jasu is a joint initiative of former Josh Goot brand and communications manager Brooke Davis, Oscar Hunt founder Chris Edwards and entrepreneur Albert Yan. Speaking to Ragtrader two weeks out from its official launch and publicity campaign, Davis revealed the concept will include a new digital method for recruiting its customer base.

During the website’s initial BETA phase, which will last for two weeks, the store will utilise social media tool Klout to identify trendsetters and allow them to access the platform.

This is the first time an online store has been Klout gated for its launch into Australia and only individuals with a certain Klout score will be able to enter the site during this phase.

After this, the website will be open to the public.

The business model will operate similar to a department store concession, with designer brands managing their own stores within the Jasu platform. Jasu will earn a commission of retail sales and provide PR and marketing support, as well as product and content consultation.
