MELBOURNE: Gap will officially open the doors to its first Australian store on Thursday August 26.
The unveiling of the 1200 square-metre store in Melbourne's Chadstone shopping centre will mark the opening of the first of two confirmed Gap stores in the Australian retail market. The second Gap store is set to open in Westfield Sydney in October.
Gap's local presence is being overseen by Brand Republic, a division of Busby Holdings Australia. Busby Holdings group marketing manager YC Eu said the company was counting down the days to August 26.
“We can't wait to open the doors of one of the world's most recognisable brands and offer the Gap experience to the Australian consumer,” Eu said.
“We are confident in offering a retail environment that is unparalleled in the current Australian market.”
To celebrate the opening of Gap Chadstone, the brand will host giveaways and a VIP shopping event for customers that have registered via its local website.
Busby Holdings Australia also manages the local operations for international brands Guess and Aldo Shoes & Accessories.
