NATIONAL: New Zealand apparel company Ezibuy believes Australian sales can help increase the company's turnover by than $40 million over the next three years. The Auckland-based brand, which this year celebrates its 30th birthday, currently produces around 40 catalogues each year mailed to a subscriber base of more than 500,000 across New Zealand and Australia.
The privately-owned company, which employs more than 1000 staff, also operates several retail outlets.
However following its purchase of Kiwi womenswear retail chain Max Fashions late last year, the brand intends introduing Max to the Australian market in 2009 through internet retailing, catalogue sales and a small number of flagship stores.
The company, believed to be the largest fashion clothing multi-channel retailer in Australasia, has stated that it believes Australia is still something of an untapped market.
Ezibuy CEO Mary Devine said the company was currently planning for its next chapter and believes it can boost turnover from its current $260 million to in excess of $300 million over the next three years as a result of the opportunities available this side of the Tasman.
"Further areas of growth for Ezibuy in both New Zealand and Australia will be achieved through extending its niche markets," Devine said.
These include its four main womenswear brands - Capture, Emerge, Urban and Grace Hill - as well as meanswearand its fast growing plus size brand Sara, whose representatives will be in Sydney next week hoping to attract new stockists.
