Uniqlo is set to celebrate the opening of its 24th Australian store by lighting up the North Bondi Lifesaving Club in 'Uniqlo red.'

The business is gearing up to open its Westfield Bondi Junction store on 17 September and to celebrate will light up the Lifesaving Club red at sunset and line the balcony with mannequins dressed in Uniqlo's linen range.

Known for attracting 2.6 million tourists from across the world each year, Uniqlo COO Kensuke Suwa said that opening a store in an iconic Australian location is a milestone for the brand.

"In Japan, when we think of Australia, we typically associate it with Bondi Beach so it is a big milestone for Uniqlo to be opening a store at such an iconic location.

"We are excited to make our range of well-designed, everyday clothing more easily accessible to those in Bondi and are looking forward to becoming a positive part of the local community," he said.

The store is set to create more than 50 jobs in the local community and is the brand's nineth store in New South Wales.

Scentre Group director of leasing and retail solutions John Papagiannis added that the business is thrilled to welcome another global brand to its Bondi Junction portfolio.

"Westfield Bondi Junction is one of Sydney’s iconic retail destinations and we’re looking forward to welcoming Uniqlo to the centre in just a few short weeks.

"We’ve had an overwhelming response from our customers since announcing Uniqlo’s imminent opening at Westfield Bondi Junction and we’re thrilled to be able to continue to provide a retail experience that truly reflects the interests and needs of the community," he said.

The Uniqlo Bondi Junction store will open on 17 September at 10am after a traditional Japanese drumming ceremony.

The store will feature the biggest LED screen installation ever seen in Uniqlo's Australian stores.
