Commenting on the insights, Semrush head of media for the UK and Australia Laura Morelli said the swing back to Australian brands is clear.

"The growth in website traffic from December to January has shown that Australians are big fans of supporting local designers with Rebecca Vallance experiencing exponential growth month-on-month out of fashion retailers.

"Fellow Aussie fashion label Strateas Carlucci's androgynous looks were also very popular at the start of 2022," she said.

Additionally, the influence of large-scale fashion events proves to be a boon for smaller brands, Morelli said.

"Both Rebecca Vallance and Strateas Carlucci participated in AAFW in 2021, which proved to be a catalyst for a number of designers including minimalist designer Albus Lumen and contemporary brand Kloke.

"Menswear collections by Nana Judy and Godwin Charli were also among the fashion retailers with the highest website growth at the beginning of 2022 signalling that Aussies are looking to dress to impress this year," she said.

However, it wasn't just designer labels that had Aussies' attention, Morelli added.

"Interestingly, chain store brands H&M and Lorna Jane remained popular choices as Aussies look for affordable attire and activewear looks to wear during summer," she said.
