UPDATED: Mimco and Myer are among the Australian businesses that have been shortlisted alongside Prada, Miu Miu and more in WGSN's 2011 Global Fashion Awards.

Department store Myer has been shortlisted in the Outstanding New Store category for its recent rebuild of its Bourke Street, Melbourne flagship. The store re-opened to shoppers in November 2010 and now covers nearly 35,000 square metres.

In the Most Innovative Marketing Campaign category, Mimco and its advertising agency Taboo have been nominated for their 2010 blogger challenge. The accessories brand approached 50 international fashion bloggers to write about its 'An Unpredictable Revolution' collection.

Bloggers that choose to take up Mimco's offer were able to select a product from the collection. In return, they had to publish a photo shoot-style post on the product. They also had to link back to Mimco's website and online film.

In the Breakthrough Brand or Retailer category, Spinners by Shane Warne was nominated for its range of men's and boys' underwear, socks, t-shirts, jeans and cargo pants. The label is managed by Richmond-headquartered Lime Door Brands and is available in Australia and India.

Meanwhile designers Jeremy Somers and Indhra Chagoury made the Breakthrough Designer shortlist for their swimwear and apparel label We Are Handsome. The label is known for its colourful digital prints and international stockists include Barneys (US), Colette (France), S*uce (Dubai) and Selfridges (UK).

Nominated alongside Diesel, H&M and Mango was Australian childrenswear brand Fred Bare. The brand, which caters to girls, boys and babies, was nominated for Most Influential Design Team.

The WGSN Global Fashion Awards were founded in 2010 to honour fashion's most innovative and inspirational businesses. The awards are judged by industry members and in 2011 judges include Australians Peter Alexander, Lisa Ho, creative director of Oroton Ana Maria Escobar, Country Road CEO Howard Goldberg and Mimco creative and commercial director Cathryn Wills.

The awards will be held on October 20 in New York.
