Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann has been named as the Australian Fashion Laureate for 2018.
Here, she reveals her three favourite moments of 2018 to ragtrader.com.au.
1. That merger
Earlier this year, the Australian Fashion Council finalised its merger between the Australian Fashion Chamber and the Council for Textiles and Fashion.
"This was a great moment for me and the industry because it signalled the start of a broader, formalised structure for the sector to lobby on important topics such as export assistance, design excellence and business strategy."
2. Getting green
Collaborating with actress Emma Watson on Vogue’s first sustainability issue in March.
"Emma’s passion for and commitment to the project was inspiring. Her visit to our office was fun and as a result we appointed our first sustainability editor, Clare Press."
3. Cover star
Choosing South Sudanese-South Australian supermodel Adut Akech as Vogue's December issue cover girl.
"It’s a wonderful celebration of an extraordinary young woman and taking her home to Adelaide to shoot with her family was very special and something only Vogue Australia could do."
