Uniqlo Australia is looking forward to the Australian Open when global ambassador Kei Nishikori will wear new game wear pieces on court.
Developed by the Uniqlo design team at the Paris research and development centre, the new game wear will make its debut at the Australian Open.
To support the launch, Uniqlo Australia will stock kids' replicas of Nishikori's shirt online in black and white styles.
Now in his 11th year of ambassadorship with Uniqlo, Nishikori was consulted by the design team on what he wanted his pieces to look like.
"The Uniqlo design team always expertly incorporates my preferences and requests in the designs," he said.
"I really like the bright orange, summery colour in the models for this tournament.
"In terms of functionality as well, the game wear is created carefully down to the smallest details, with great breathability and comfort to support my playing," he said.
The game wear replicas also help Uniqlo to further its sustainability mission; with the pieces made from new Dry-Ex material, which is created using polyester fibres recycled from PET bottles.
The new material retains the moisture-wicking functionality of Dry-Ex, while providing a level of comfort that allows players to perform at their best.
Featuring tones of deep black, industrial grey, white and bright orange, the kids' shirts come in sizes ranging from 130cm-160cm.
The kids' game wear pieces will be available on the Uniqlo Australia website from February 01.
