Aussie TikTok duo Shay Manning and Nate Taplin - who have 301,000 followers - discuss the inner workings of creating content on TikTok.

Which content performs best for you?

Our  'glow up'/fashion videos perform best as we think people enjoy seeing transitions and us glowing up.

What is your best performing video? Why do you think this one took off?

Our 'used to be so beautiful' video is our most viewed with 3.6 million views.

This is a glow up/transition video and we think people enjoyed the shock change.

Where are your audience located? Do you tailor content to these viewers?

Our audience is mainly Australian and second next is USA.

We film at token aussie locations to draw attention to other aussies who recognise them!

Which fashion brands have you worked with?

We have worked with Sabo Skirt, Tiger Mist, BooHoo, LSKD, Culture Kings, Supre, Ghana, Nana Judy, City Beach, Homebodii and The Iconic.

They were all amazing to work with and we had 100% creative control!

[Our partners] always love [our content] and give us a positive review, as well as sharing the video themselves.

What are some dos and don'ts for the platform?

Do: Post a lot, stay on trends

Don’t: Don’t try too hard, don’t share content from other platforms as TikTok has its own style.

What is your advice to brands when they want to work with TikTok content creators?

Let TikTokkers have full control as they understand the app and also what their viewers like.

Are there any particular posting times that generate better engagement?

Not that we have worked out as the For You page works the same at any time.

What does a general day in the life of a TikTok creator look like?

Have an idea, drop everything and film no matter when or where we are!
