The Woolmark Company has welcomed the nomination of Shaun the Sheep's latest film, Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, for Best Animated Feature in this year's Academy Awards.

The film was supported by a partnership between animation studio Aardman Animations, The Woolmark Company and Studio Canal.

It has been nominated for the Oscar alongside Disney Pixar films Onward and Soul, American-Chinese creation Over The Moon, and Irish feature Wolfwalkers.

Alongside the feature-length film, the trio also worked to create a short film and micro-site which helps to educate the future generations on the benefits of Merino wool.

Alongside the one-minute short, the micro-site - which is available in English, Mandarin and Japanese - hosts three games and downloadable activity sheets.

"The Woolmark Company invests heavily in the education of future generations, with tailor-made programs developed for primary, secondary and tertiary students," The Woolmark Company said.

"The bespoke Shaun the Sheep children’s activities not only instil a love of wool into this future generation, but all the eco-credentials that come with it," the organisation said.

The Woolmark Company is an authority on wool and aims to highlight Australian wool’s position as a leading natural fibre and ingredient in apparel.

The Woolmark Company is a subsidiary of Australian Wool Innovation, a not-for-profit enterprise that conducts research, development and marketing along the worldwide supply chain for Australian wool on behalf of about 60,000 woolgrowers that help fund the company.
