Puma has partnered with Australian brand Modibodi on a leak-free active underwear collection.

As part of the launch, the companies commissioned a global survey that revealed one in two teens are skipping sport because of embarrassment, pain or fear of leaks during their period.

Other female players find the fear of leaking psychologically impacts their sporting performance.

“I was one of the ones who stayed in sport but for many girls, that’s not a reality,” says AFL Collingwood star, Sabrina Frederick and PUMA athlete, who is keen to break the stigma.

“Periods shouldn’t stop young girls from participating in sport. “These are numbers we need to address, to keep girls in sport longer.”

Modibodi CEO Kristy Chong said the Puma x Modibodi collection aims to replace the need for disposable pads, liners and tampons as wearers play.

“Modibodi’s proprietary Modifier Technology wicks moisture and sweat, locks away fluid and odour and keeps you feeling fresh and dry, without the discomfort of disposables," she said.

“We are thrilled to launch this collection with Puma and together normalise menstruation and tackle the stigma that women can't be active on their periods or when experiencing any of life’s leaks.”

The Puma x Modibodi collection consists of three styles of active underwear: thong, brief and boyshort.

Each style is available in two colour ways: dark slate and grape wine and includes a 3mm thin gusset with Modibodi’s absorbent Modifier Technology.

As part of the launch, PUMA and Modibodi will work with PUMA’s She Moves Us charity partner, Women Win, to donate bundle packs to 500 girls and women in need.

Prices for the collection range from $25.50 to $35.50 with sizes XS to 2XL.
