Following the inaugural Fashions of Multicultural Australia (FOMA) in 2019, FOMA is set to return this year at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney on May 1.

FOMA, supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will for the first time ever give communities the opportunity to experience the FOMA Designer & Cultural Exhibit at no cost.

It will feature a diverse program of First Nations, international, local and refugee designers.

The 2019  FOMA Runway Showcase welcomed 3,000 guests and accumulated an audience reach in excess of 7,000,000.

The opening of the Runway Showcase will be a unique collaboration between Australian millinery designer, Wendy Scully and First Nations People designer, Buluuy Mirriiy.

As in previous years, FOMA will provide an opportunity to individuals with mental and/physical disabilities to participate in the Runway Showcase.

Whilst retaining most of the major government engagement as in previous years, FOMA will welcome several new contributors.

These include The Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Australia, The Embassy of Israel in Australia, The Embassy of Colombia in Australia, Consul General of India, Sydney, The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney, ProChile and Embassy of Chile to Australia and the Consul General of China in Sydney through the China Cultural Centre in Sydney and China National Tourism Office.

FOMA will also work in conjunction with Justin Shoulder, who will be representing the Biennale of Sydney and the LGBTQI community.
