Victorian-based label Strateas.Carlucci has won the Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).
The awards, supported by fashion tome Harper's Bazaar, saw Tiffany & Co. present design duo Peter Strateas and Mario-Luca Carlucci with a $10,000 cheque and custom-designed trophy.
The pair will also receive a trip to New York, courtesy of Virgin Australia. Whilst in New York they will participate in a private meeting with the Tiffany & Co. design team and behind-the-scenes tour of its New York flagship store and design workshop.
The prize package also includes a pop-up store at Westfield Doncaster for the duration of one month, legal services from K&L Gates and a coveted piece from Tiffany & Co.
Harper’s Bazaar fashion director, Thelma McQuillan will also style the winner’s lookbook for the following season.
Strateas.Carlucci won out against fellow finalists Bùl (VIC), Christina Exie (VIC), Haryono Setiadi (NSW), Livia Arena (VIC), Pageant (VIC) to take out the top prize.
The label was selected as the 2014 winner by a judging panel comprising: VAMFF CEO Graeme Lewsey, and managing director of Tiffany & Co., Glen Schlehuber, Harper’s Bazaar editor, Kellie Hush, David Jones group executive – merchandise, Donna Player and 2013 award winner, From Britten.
The Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award recognises designers in their early stages of business, who excel in creative design and quality and who demonstrate potential for growth and development within the industry.
