An international fashion e-commerce giant is arming itself for the launch of a domestic site offering womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, kidswear and sportswear.
Rocket Internet GmbH did not return repeated queries from Ragtrader at time of press, however a number of industry sources confirmed the giant has already established local offices and filled senior positions.
Rocket Internet invests capital and advice into the development of innovative online companies, with projects including Groupon, eDarling, TopTarif and Zalando.
The company has advertised a number of local positions across recruitment platforms including buyers, product content writers, local models, photography editors and product and content controllers.
"With rapid expansion plans, substantial backing and proven success in international markets, this online retail group is set to take the Australian online retail market by storm," the company stated.
Sources told Ragtrader the company will trade under theiconicroom.com and is based in Surry Hills, Sydney.
