Decjuba's nationwide team of 1,400 has helped the Australian Retailers Association and Afterpay pilot their new financial literacy course.

The education program has been designed specifically for Australian retail workers and comprises of four independently-designed courses to address the education gap in financial literacy experienced by the retail sector.

The self-led course is accessible online and covers topics such as foundations of financial wellbeing, financial resilience, wealth generation and understanding financial products.

Decjuba owner and CEO Tania Austin said the organisation was proud to offer its team the first taste of the new course.

"At Decjuba our people are our greatest asset.

"We were thrilled to give our teams first access to a financial literacy educational platform that will help them grow both professionally and personally.

"As a female-led brand with more than 1400 team members across Australia and New Zealand, we are passionate about championing female leaders and their education.

"We were excited to partner with Afterpay and the ARA to offer our teams a financial literacy course with the end goal of empowering them to feel more confident managing their finances and to take a step toward closing the gender and generational gap on financial literacy," she said.

The new course complements the ARA's wider training programs and forms part of the organisation's larger partnership with Afterpay, CEO Paul Zahra added.

"It’s a pivotal time for Australian retailers as our economy transitions to the ‘new normal’ of the post-COVID world.

"It’s more important than ever that retail workers have the financial skills to navigate the economic challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

"Superannuation, interest, budgets and financial risk can be tricky topics to get your head around, especially if you’re a young person starting out in the industry.

"However, through these new courses, retail workers will get the skills they need to advance their careers.

"These courses complement the ARA Retail Institute – our registered training organisation, which caters for the education and professional development needs of the Australian retail industry," he said.

The course is available to all retail workers now via the ARA website.
