David Jones will support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) during Breast Cancer Awareness Month through its annual fundraising campaign.

This year is the 27th year of partnership between the NBCF and David Jones, with the retailer proud to have raised over $5 million for the organisation to date.

This October, David Jones will donate $1 from selected bras sold in the month to the NBCF, supporting the organisation's research, helping breast cancer patients in Australia.

NBCF’s ongoing research supports increasing early discovery, improving treatment outcomes and helping prevent deaths from breast cancer.

David Jones head of sustainability Eloise Bishop said the business is proud to again support the NBCF.

"We are extremely proud of the longstanding partnership we hold with NBCF, an incredible organisation that is consistently championing world-class research in the fight against breast cancer.

"As an organisation, we recognise the vital role early detection has in breast cancer diagnosis – the most diagnosed cancer in Australia – and aim to show our continued support for NBCF’s work through Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our Rose Clinic offering," she said.

According to NBCF data, over 30,000 lives will be lost to breast cancer by 2030, meaning over 250,000 Australians will lose an immediate family member to cancer in the next nine years.

Aimed at reducing these statistics through early detection tests, David Jones will provide an in-store free health screening at its Rose Clinics across six stores - Elizabeth St, Bourke St Mall, Queensplaza, Hay St Mall, Adelaide Central Plaza and Wollongong.

Available for women over 40, the David Jones Rose Clinics use digital mammography technology and provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for customers.

The Rose Clinics are located at select stores nationally with appointments available to book online.*

NBCF CEO Professor Sarah Hosking welcomed David Jones' continued partnership.

"David Jones have been a valued partner of NBCF for 27 years.

"During this time, David Jones have helped fund multiple world-class breast cancer research projects supporting breast cancer patients in Australia through earlier detection of tumours and improved treatment outcomes.

"With the number of breast cancer diagnoses increasing by 36% in the past 10 years, this research has never been more critical.

"Thanks to the generous support of David Jones and their customer network this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we can continue to invest in the best research supporting Australian breast cancer patients now and in the future," she said.

David Jones will begin the donations to NBCF today, October 1.

*For customers based in NSW and VIC, the David Jones Rose Clinic teams are working closely with services in each local health district to resume the screening as soon as local conditions allow. The reopening of clinics will be gradual and assessed on a case-by-case basis according to the level of risk and operational considerations posed by COVID-19.
