Catch managing director Pete Sauerborn has announced his departure from the business, just two years after taking up the position.

The news comes as Wesfarmers announced that Catch will move from Kmart Group and join the new data and digital division, Wesfarmers OneDigital.

Sauerborn will depart the eTailer at the end of June this year, with a new MD set to be appointed in the coming months.

During his tenure, Sauerborn oversaw the Kmart and Target integrations on Catch, as well as the eTailer's expansion into a new fulfilment centre and the launch of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) at its distribution centre in Truganina.

In a statement, Wesfarmers MD Rob Scott thanked Sauerborn for his contribution to the business during its foundation years within Kmart Group.

Meanwhile, Wesfarmers announced the new digital division as part of its half-year results, with the aim to develop a market-leading data and digital ecosystem.

The OneDigital segment currently includes the OnePass subscription program and the Advanced Analytics Centre.

Scott said OneDigital will streamline the Group's digital operations.

"Each of our divisions is developing significant capabilities in data analytics and digital services to meet the specific needs of their customers.

"Wesfarmers OneDigital will complement these divisional capabilities, particularly through the benefits of the shared data platform and OnePass program.

"This will provide greater value, expanded range and a more seamless experience for customers across the Group’s retail businesses," he said.

Scott added that merging Catch with the OneDigital division will give the segment a strong base to build from.

"The Catch marketplace, together with the OnePass subscription program and the Advanced Analytics Centre, provide a strong foundation for Wesfarmers OneDigital.

"This will support the growth and performance of our retail divisions while providing new growth opportunities for the group," he said.

The new Catch MD will report to OneDigital head Nicole Sheffield.

Wesfarmers is set to outline further detail on OneDigital at the Strategy Briefing Day in June 2022.
