Best & Less is set to roll out 100% recyclable enviro-hangers to its 185 stores across Australia.
Following a successful trial, Best & Less will roll out the hangers to its network, helping to combat the 85% of plastic that ends up in landfill at the end of its life.
The enviro-hangers are made from recyclable paper and compete with plastic hangers on price, strength and style – having been awarded the Gold medal in the Home Zero Waste category at the Australian Non-Toxic Awards 2020.
Best & Less head of kids buying Vanessa Noy said the action forms part of the retailer’s larger sustainability mission.
"Best & Less introduced the enviro-hangers last year taking further action towards our goal to have all packaging reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.
"We commenced the trial with our Baby Berry Organics range, and following a great customer response we plan to expand sustainable packaging across all of our accessories, socks, blankets etc. as well as the entirety of our organics range store wide," she said.
Best & Less is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant (APCO) and has been for the last five years.
The retailer follows APCO's Sustainable Packaging Guidelines of which the key principals are:
1. Fit for Purpose – designed to consumers’ needs and cost effective
2. Resource Efficiency – minimise the use of materials without compromising quality or safety
