Australian eyewear retailer Bailey Nelson has expanded its bricks-and-mortar footprint in New Zealand, opening two new stores in the market.

The business has opened the stores in Auckland at Botany Town Centre and Sylvia Park Shopping Centre.

The new stores opened with the brand's extended range - which introduced 71 new frames into the Bailey Nelson offering - and will offer customers eye tests at least five days a week.

Bailey Nelson co-founder Peter Winkle said the new stores will help the business reach a new customer.

"Our new locations in Sylvia Park and Botany Town Centre will not only appeal to our core demographic; they will help to connect our brand with Auckland’s outer suburbs and a more diverse consumer base.

"We see excellent growth opportunities in Auckland and New Zealand at large and have plans to greatly expand our footprint in the region over the coming two years.

"People value great eyecare and beautiful designs at fair prices, and we look forward to spreading the word on what we offer to all New Zealanders," he said.

The opening of the Botany and Sylvia Park stores takes Bailey Nelson's store count to 10 across New Zealand, with the stores the brand's 98th and 99th globally.

The opening of the new NZ stores follows the brand's growth in the Australian market, which last year saw it open stores in Malvern in Melbourne and Sydney's Castle Towers Shopping Centre.

Bailey Nelson Botany will be run by manager Pooja Tiwari, previously from Country Road, while Sylvia Park will be run by manager Kahui Te Are, transferring from the High St store.

Bailey Nelson's design team is based in Sydney, with the brand featuring 400 frames across 86 styles and 72 colourways.

The retailer offers optical, sun and prescription sun glasses in a range of lens options including single vision, multifocal and blue light filter.
