Hush Puppies Australia is the latest retailer to close its stores in the wake of COVID-19.

However, 24 hours before it closed its doors, the business donated 100 pairs of slippers to doctors and nurses on the front line.

The act of generosity comes as part of the brand's current 'Practice Optimism' campaign, a philanthropic endeavour to give all those stuck at home ideas and inspiration to remain upbeat and positive.

Hush Puppies Australia GM Charlene Perera said the business wanted to show how appreciative it is of the efforts of Australia's healthcare professionals.

"Thank you to all the healthcare workers, risking their lives on the front lines.

"We know it's crazy right now, but we hope that when you do get a break, that you do so in comfort.

"It’s in our DNA to look at life on the bright side, but that can be hard with everything that is going on in the world around us.

"Because of this, we think it’s more important than ever to do our small part by spreading optimism.

"That’s why we are going to be sharing facts, ideas and inspiration on to #PracticeOptimism even when you’re stuck inside.

"Let’s all band together, even whilst we are apart," she said.

Despite having to close its eight stores across Australia, Perera said that it was important to still make a positive contribution.

"We are all feeling the impact of this situation, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t support one another.

"[We] hope that this small action will help encourage other businesses within Australia to dig deep and support those on the front lines as well as the wider community."
